Well today I had a scary moment... I walked outside my apartment to run something to the cute girl that lives downstairs and before I even got to the bottom of the stairs Ian had ran over and closed the door behind me (which he does all the time) and then I hear the CLICK. My stomach sank when I remembered he had learned how to lock the door. I tried to stay calm, I finished my errand quickly and headed back up the stairs. Sure enough it was locked. I knocked on the door... Ian can you come unlock the door? The second he realized that I was outside and he was in he started freaking out. I just kept talking to him through the door (luckily he could hear me really good!) and I tried to tell him how to unlock the door. He kept saying "I did it" through his tears, but he hadn't turned the lock far enough for me to be able to open the door. I ran back downstairs to see if they would call the office for me (they have a key) and I could hear Ian screaming. I ran back up and he was just so scared. I tried helping him unlock it again, but it was no use. Finally I told him to climb on the couch and try from up there... after a few more tries he finally got it. WHEW!!! My first instinct was to panic, but I remembered the office has a key, the girl downstairs was calling them, everything was really OK! Ian on the other hand was definately in panic mode! When he got the door open I gave him the biggest hug and he was crying. It was so sad! I don't think he will ever lock me out again! I guess that is a good lesson to learn!

ya we had to totally put a kid doornob thing on our door so ellie can't lock it because she has done the same thing
Scary!! Poor boy. I accidentally locked myself outside once at my sisters when I was babysitting good thing Brinsen was old enough to know how to unlock the door
How scary, I always think of Heidi when the elevator at Dillards closed with Boston already out and leaving her stuck inside. You were so good to stay calm. I miss you to I love you tons.
Oh that makes me so sad for Ian! I am glad it turned out well though!
oh man that is not fun!! I can totally picture poor Ian inside just crying and being so upset because he can't get to you! How sad!! That would be scary for you too! Man oh man!! Maybe you should look into getting those child proof door handle things!! Glad it did not last for too long!!
Poor guy...that makes me sad thinking about him sad and scared. Glad you stayed calm...good learning experience I guess.
Maybe it's just hormones but that story brought tears to my eyes. I think I was imagining Jay in that same situation and can only imagine how scary that would be. Maybe almost as scary as Heidi sending Boston down the elevator without her! Ha Ha Ha.
ooh, i loved that story. what a sad moment for ian!
Definetly a good lesson learned for him. I think it's cute that he cried instead of finding it funny like some kids definetly would.
ah that is so scary. i had a similar thing happen to me when cooper was about 1. it's freaky! i'm glad that everything was ok though
sad! That has happened to me and boston more than just once and I totally know the feeling! Once was the elevator incident and another time he was locked in the house for over an hour by himself! But ya...it's freaky!
